Project Kaisei is a non-profit organization focused on increasing awareness of the scale of marine debris, its impact on our environment, and the solutions for both prevention and clean-up.
"During 2012 Project Kaisei is again collaborating with Dr. Nikolai Maximenko and Jan Hafner, ocean current experts, who do computer modeling of Gyre debris distribution and have been tracking the debris from the Japanese Tsunami. KAISEI will be doing mid-ocean surveys to ground proof their computer models. In addition, we are taking large water samples that will also be studied at the University of Hawaii looking for the degree of radioactivity being spread throughout the Pacific Ocean. Please check back every couple of weeks for expedition updates."
